New Delhi Airport
New Delhi Airport ( Airport Code: DEL ) is located 12 miles south of Delhi.
All international flights operate from Terminal II (International Terminal) only and all
domestic flights operate from Terminal I of IGI Airport. The International Terminal is 3 miles
from the Domestic Terminal, A free Airport Authority AC courtesy coach provides a transfer service
between the terminals every hour during the day and every half hour at night. Passengers should be
prepared for a certain amount of chaos at the airport, customs are slow, the queues for the
x-ray machines are long and the staff at the endless security checks are are not so pleasant.
Changing Money/ Currency Exchange
In India, the unit of currency is the Rupee (INR). Change money with Authorized Currency Exchange places like
the airport, most banks and hotels and insist on a receipt, as it will help you reconvert unused rupees
into the original foreign currency at the time of departure. Avoid any people on the street who offer
to change your money at a temptingly high rate of exchange ( Generally you end up with fake currencies,
or its a scam where the street dealer bolts with your money. )
Taxi Bookings/Hotel Pickup
It is advisable to do all bookings of taxis (Pre-Paid) and hotels via the airport. The cab fare
is little more expensive but the cops keep a record of cab passengers so you are safe and don't have
to put up with a tampered meter or other excuses. If you can arrange to be picked up via your hotel it
would be very beneficial.
New Delhi Climate
The Indian capital city of New Delhi remains hot and humid during the summer months and is cold
during the winters. The average temperature of New Delhi ranges from 25C to 46C during summer
and 2C to 5C during winter. The cold wave from the Himalayan region makes the winters in Delhi
very chilly. In summers, the heat wave in New Delhi is immense and adequate precaution has to
be taken before going out in the day. The best season to visit Delhi is during the pleasant
spring seasons of February to April and August to November.

About New Delhi
The city is expansive but easy to navigate. The hub of New Delhi is Connaught Place, where you'll

of miles north, and its main thoroughfare is Chandni Chowk - The bazaars that surround Chandni Chowk

gold, garlands, turbans, tinsel and spare car parts.
The major landmarks around delhi include Rashtrapati Bhavan (the official residence of the President
of India), Parliament House, the north and south Secretariat buildings, the 135 feet stone war memorial
known as India Gate and the broad Rajpath, which is flanked with ornamental ponds and is tailor made
for parades. Delhi’s cultural scene gets active and brimming between October and March. India’s leading
artists, painters, musicians and dancers like to catch the audience in Delhi. During winters, most
of the theatre, art, music and dance festivals take place. There are a number of cinemas and performing
arts centres around Connaught Place, but Delhi's strict licensing laws effectively curtail nightlife.
